"Brandon Easton continues to write for comic, TV pilot. California-based production studio Unified Pictures has informed ANN that Ryan Benjamin (Ultimate Spiderman, Batman Re-Animated) is taking over as artist and colorist on its Vampire Hunter D: Message from Mars comic book series, and Richard Friend is providing the inks. Benjamin and Friend are replacing the previous artist Michael Broussard beginning with the second issue."

Its a shame Broussard isn't involved anymore, his art was pretty, but I'm glad to see the comics are finally going to be moving along again.

Vampire Hunter D: Message From Mars just arrived! My wait is over!

So, the new volume of the Vampire Hunter D manga arrived.

I think of this as the start of a new season, like a TV series, instead of a full reboot. Yes, this is the first volume, however it picks up where the previous one ended. The last story adapted was Journey to the North Sea, and this new volume adapts the next book in the VHD novel series The Rose Princess. There is potential for translation into other languages, but I think that is dependent on how well this first volume does and if there's enough demand. Although, to my mind, I don't think having enough demand is going to be an issue, as the VHD manga got a new chance at life because VHD: Message from Mars did so well via it's kickstarters.

Anyway...

Bless Saiko-san for taking the helm again, her art is always so beautiful.

A vampire hunter d star wars crossover might be the bridgepoint I can use to get some of my star wars friends to watch it. Please share more of your crossover 👀

The selling point of the crossover is that aliens and space travel are established to be canon in Vampire Hunter D (kinda in the movie but mostly featured in some of the books but I legit cant follow the wiki descriptions they’re so convoluted), and also this newest comic ‘Message from Mars’ has D on a job on Mars so he is already there in SpaceTM waiting for the story to write itself. So there is this dumb story I constructed with @floaromaxtowns if you're curious- it features D after he is done killing off most of the Mars population because that is all basically vampires being pieces of unsacred shit, and after that D has an encounter with Jedi Master Plo Koon and its like why did this unbelievable dude kill off the planet, and D is like Im Just Doing My Job Here. And Plo’s like Oh Is Your Job Being A Sith Lord and there is a brief conflict based on misunderstandings, because D does not know two fucks about Sith and Jedi and it kinda ends when Countenanced Carbuncle swallows Plo’s lightsaber and chokes.

Here we are, coming to the last few days of the Creature Collection for 5e Scarred Lands Kickstarter, and the last 9 days of the Kickstarter for Deviant: The Renegade. Wow, the time sure flies with these – you can check out below in the Blurbs for details on how everyone’s pledges have added to both projects in different ways.

That’s really a huge part of the fun for us – using KS to help create more and new parts to a project! Not something you can really do with a standard pre-order.

Thanks everybody who already pledged – and if you haven’t yet, you really do owe it to yourself to take a look. Both campaigns have a huge amount of backer activity and involvement, and have great KS-runners.

Next up, we’re looking at Mummy 2nd Edition for the just inaugurated Onyx Path Kickstarter account that Creature Collection is on right now, so we’re really going to need to get our previous backers to give that a try and pop over there. Not the easiest shift to make!

At the end of the week, Dixie, Eddy, and myself (and maybe a surprise Onyx Path creator or two) will be attending the Save Against Fear Convention in Harrisburg, PA, that benefits the Bodhana Group. These folks are a non-profit group that believes that tabletop gaming can have therapeutic value – and as many of them are licensed to provide therapeutic assistance, as well as being long-time table-top gamers, they know what they’re talking about.

While there are numerous therapy panels, this is very much a gaming convention with a busy gaming area and panels about making table-top games, as well. If you can stop by, it’s a lot of fun – and the proceeds go to a worthy cause!

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Not to celebrate, but to commemorate the death of the comedian who went by Charles Rocket. He was part of the awful season on Saturday Night Live (1980-1981) right after Lorne Michaels left, and we commemorate him because he was by all accounts the first person to “drop the f-bomb” clearly on American TV. He was, of course for the time, fired immediately. We here at Onyx Path, who believe in the magic of all words, not just polite ones, to tell our stories, salute this trailblazer who gave his all for the cause.
